Is it possible to obtain a GSA contract on my own?

The GSA website outlines all that is needed to get a GSA contract. Why do I need to use a company to get my GSA contract?

How long does it take to get a GSA contract? I have heard it only takes 90 days, and other sources told me it can take up to 6 months.
